The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Würger (Shrike) was a German single-seat, single radial
engine fighter aircraft designed by Kurt Tank in the late 1930s.
The Focke-190 proved suitable for a wide variety of roles, including air
superiority fighter, strike fighter, ground-attack aircraft, and operated with
less success as a night fighter.

When the Fw 190 started flying operationally over France in August 1941 it was
quickly proven to be superior in all but turn radius to the Royal Air Force's
main front line fighter, the Spitfire Mk. V. The 190 wrested air superiority
away from the RAF until the introduction of the vastly improved Spitfire Mk. IX
in July 1942 restored qualitative parity.

The Fw 190 became the backbone of Jagdwaffe (Fighter Force) along with the Bf
109. On the Eastern Front the Fw 190 was versatile enough to be used in
Schlachtgeschwader (Battle Wings or Strike Wings), specialised ground attack
units which achieved much success against Soviet ground forces. As an
interceptor, the Fw 190 underwent improvements to make it effective at high
altitude allowing the 190 to maintain relative parity against its Allied
opponents.

This wonderful aircraft from Classics Hanger distributed by flight1 is somewhat
a great looking aircraft I cannot help think could it have won the Germans the
war, but looking back now any German would have said the Spitfire was too great
of an aircraft to be beaten in battle. But none the less the aircraft from
Classics Hanger offers you the chance if anything to step abroad such aircraft
and have fun while flying. In this review we will be looking at every angle of
the aircraft and even the sound but first let’s look at the Installing of the
Focke=-190

Installation:
Flight1 Flight1
I have to say when I put the disc in the drive the first time round nothing
happened but I did have every program open you could ever imagine so I closed a
few programs down and started again this time without failure. This install was
a slight different compared to other installs before.
As I installed the product with the follow my lead type of install yes yes yes
im still following you wow hold on what do you mean do I want to fly the real
flight model or just fly model I choose the real flight model and then up pops
another window panel configuration, Brilliant cockpit or standard cockpit well I
went for the Brilliant quality choice. After that was done the installer stay’s
it’s all complete and ready to fly… So I did.

Documentation:
Having installed the aircraft I wanted to know just that little more about the
aircraft and not just from the Net. So I would expect to see a nice lovingly PDF
formatted file with all I want to know, I must say I did get this in a CD format
and it came with a book that contains 31 pages of sheer fun and it’s in English
however if you were to get the downloaded version it comes with a nice 55 page
manual nothing much is different other than the pictures been larger. You may
notice that some or most of the buttons and switches in the cockpit are in the
native German so reading some of these buttons is like learning German for the
first time. But as you can imagine Classic Hanger have helped you out a slight
tad (Little bit) they have labelled every button and switch in the manual to
help you out just so you know how to fly the aircraft.

Inside & Out:
The modelling on this product is Class. One distinction between the early
variants (reproduced in the previous package) and the late variants (reproduced
here) is that the late Antons, beginning with A-5, had the engine moved forward
about five inches. That sounds like a small difference, but it changes the
profile.
We now take a look at the outside of the aircraft and see what it looks like
(Before the jokes start) I know its and aircraft but never before have I seen a
Focke wolf-190
Looking on the outside of the aircraft now it looks brilliant. The paint schemes
look the part but I have noticed that I can drop the tank but the pilot is
trapped in the cockpit as it don’t open I have tried every key to try and open
the canopy nothing happens but wait I did say I wanted to fly this aircraft like
a Pro, so I will see what the VC can offer me, t’s no good im stuck moving on
from the outside nothing more could be done to make this better other than the
canopy not working.
Each of the ten models in this package comes with its own virtual cockpit (VC).
Most variations are minor -- one model has a different gun sight, another has a
different ammo counter or turn indicator -- but all of the models have an
artificial horizon gauge (something that Allied planes got earlier) and the very
latest Antons include a vertical speed indicator (something, again, which today
we take for granted but which most German fighters did not get until late in the
war).
Inside the VC cockpit now and I have to say this is great every little switch
does something im now looking at the scope and you have a range finder and
tinted glass acting like a shade so you never lose your target. Even little
things like air vent works so I find it hard that I cannot get out of this
cockpit. But im only working from a flightsim, so I could just close down
Flightsim and that would be the easiest option. I didn’t have any trouble. If,
at some point, your textures look fuzzy -- the first thing you’ll notice will
probably be the gauges -- it means you need to exit the sim, fix the one line
again, and restart the sim. It’s also possible, though the manual doesn’t say
this, to save all of your settings, including the TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD variable, and
load them from the settings page without restarting.

Sounds:
I have been listening to this lame banging noise for a long time, I have only
been over stressing the engine to the point of a blow-up I have to say that
noise did my head in to the point I closed FS, but if you want to fly the
aircraft like a pro that’s what you have to deal with and I have to say other
than the noise doing my head in it’s a great feature. The main sounds could be
more gerrr and grunt it’s sort of lacking the main idea of sound, im sure with a
small update I could be possible for the sound to be upgraded or you could look
up sounds from flightsim.com and see what they have to offer.

Overall:
The Fw-190 price is realistic as the asking price comes in around £25.00 for
this package you do get heaps of product. The CD box set comes with a nice paper
back manual but most of all the aircraft it’s self is a wonderful piece of
engineering brilliance from classics hanger. The actual systems work in harmony
with each other and give you this brilliant aircraft in one package.
